Professional Planner has released an Ethics & Professionalism Podcast series for financial advisers, in partnership with Allan Gray.
It’s been a hard few years for financial advisers. Expectations around ethical standards have risen, driven by a combination of changes in legislation, the Financial Services Royal Commission and the new Financial Adviser Standards and Ethics Authority (FASEA) Code of Ethics. This can only be good for the industry in the long run; raising ethical standards is vital for an industry that is potentially losing the public’s faith.
But ethics can be tricky. Situations are not always black and white and how individuals act when faced with an ethical dilemma will come down to a culmination of factors, including their backgrounds, experiences, education, situational and environmental factors.
To help navigate through the minefield Professional Planner has released a podcast series in partnership with Allan Gray – Ethics & Professionalism for Financial Advisers. During the series ethics experts and financial advisers are engaged to talk through real-life scenarios that advisers encounter in their everyday professional lives. Both client-facing situations and dilemmas relating to their employment structures or situations are covered, with the intention of unpacking these in light of the FASEA Code of Ethics.
